Forgive your naughty Fairy for not posting in awhile.  My wonderful Fangreaders have been keeping me busy.  I have created many blogs now for the Fangreaders, and I’m most proud of the latest, The Fangreaders Hall of Fame where we get to celebrate fanfic authors & their stories.  The Grand Opening was with our Lemon Tart Awards.  Yes a subject very close to my …heart.  I was really overwhelmed by the response in our fandom.  239 people voted!!!  All the nominees came from the fandom & from the Fangreaders themselves.  I also created each and every one of the awards and was very happy with the results.  Seeing some of the awards posted on the authors’ blogs have made me the happiest.

The Wait is Almost Over!!!!!

Yes, grab a bib or cover your keyboards.  AB is really going to give it us us this season.  Of course he is~ he values his life, right?  Yes, AB we tolerated the graveyard sex; making Bill nicer than nice; and the loss of “Yield to Me”.  Mess with “Dead to the World” and he’ll be meeting the sun!!  We want Showers~ (sans Bill!!!) ~ A Gracious Plenty!!~ And lots of hot sex! The other characters …eh Do what you want.  I do wanna see some Laffy, Jessica & of course Pam.

The wait is over for most of us and we are now waiting until Book 12 of SVM.  I loved it! My Wish for 2011

In my last post, I mentioned one of my wishes for 2011.  My wish was for Alan Ball to make sure to give us the Eric & Sookie shower scene.

 Apparently, that wish is shared by quite a few of you.  So let’s rise up and take a stand.  We missed out on the Pink Spandex, Eric taking Sookie to the orgy, the “yield to me” on the corvette, and taking the stake out of Sookie with the fooling around afterwards.  I’m grateful that AB has given us the dream sequences, the basement scene( Holy Ass Scene), and their first kiss.  However, if AB felt that the cemetery scene was necessary for Bill&Sookie; the shower scene is definitely necessary for Eric & Sookie. 

Until Season 4 of True Blood, we will all have to keep our fingers and toes crossed. 

So what do we do until June 2011?

Curl up with a nice, hot SVM Fanfic, of course.

Looking Back at 2010

Ok, have we all recovered from Christmas?  So much Food, Fun, and Festivities ~ I will have to work out for the first 3 months of 2011 to make up for it, but it was worth it!  After cleaning up the aftermath of the Toys R Us explosion that happened in our house, I was able to start tackling my reading list.  Spending some “Quality Time” with my Viking has made all the madness bearable.  Now that we are approaching the beginning of 2011, it’s time to look back on 2010.

Don’t see my addiction ending anytime soon, and I have no need for a cure.  I only wish there were more hours in the day, or I didn’t have to sleep so I can read more.  Since there are other addicts out there, I have talked an idea out with a friend of mine (Clare_de_loon) about a “Book Club” for fanfics ~ If everyone brings a fanfic they have found to the (virtual) table, I think us readers would have a chance to read fics that we might have missed.  If you’re interested please contact me.  If there is a large response or varied tastes (pun intended), we can have different groups.   I can have chat rooms set up and also post comments.  Please come on and Join In.

~My Personal Business Ventures

Having my Wedding/Events Business has been a dream come true.  I have met some great people and have been able to work around spending time with my family~ not to mention reading time.  However, last year was the slowest, and I’m venturing into other projects.  I love being able to spend time with my hubby and daughter.  Hopefully, these projects will be lucrative so I can continue to be there for them.  (Also i will have time for my distractions*smirks*)

‘Tis the Season

So it looks like some of us might have a White Christmas.  Woopee.  It’s not the pretty stuff  here anymore. It’s the muddy, slushy, icy stuff.  The kind of stuff that makes getting around a big pain. 

Good news is that I don’t have any work until the New Year! Woopee!

What to do while you’re stuck at home with the Family?

• Have the kids play that awesome game~ “Put all this shit where it belongs” game….It’s hours of fun!
• If some unwanted family members descend upon you~ send them on the “£100 Taxi Tour” (just forget to mention to the driver that it is a return trip).   Money well spent!
• If your hubby is at home during the Holidays, let him play the World Cup Home Edition.  Place a picture of a goal on the laundry basket, and for each article of clothing that goes in he scores a goal. (oops, did I forget to mention about the £100 fine for every article of clothing left on the floor)… Momma’s going Shoppin’ !
• And my favourite Game ~ “You Bother Me During My Time & I’ll Send You to Narnia” Game.  Anyone that bugs me while I’m having some “Me” time will be locked in the wardrobe until they find Narnia!!!

So as I stated before, my daughter is off from school until 5th Jan, and my hubby is home until 13th Jan…Don’t know what kind of condition I’m gonna be in by the end of everyone’s holiday, but I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty

Skarstarved
Any person who is suffering from an addiction to any of the Skarsgard family of Sweden; most commonly in reference to Alexander Skarsgard (lead roles in Generation Kill & True Blood from HBO, as well as many Swedish productions); aka as a 6'4" Scandinavian lord of beauty and hot-ass talent. Can be seen in 2010 & 2011 in such films as 'Beyond the Pole', '13', and a remake of 'Straw Dogs', as well as his continued role on the adult hit series, True Blood, opposite Oscar winner, Anna Panquin.
Those that suffer from being Skarstarved (typically while he's on seasonal hiatus, or working on a project) long for him & suffer extreme withdrawal, that include dizziness, nocturnal emissions, and involuntary, spontaneous salvation at the mention of the name, or by random fan photos. Those that are afflicted are typically harmless, though they may over-engage in conversations regarding the career of said Skarsgard, which typically becomes a form of rambling. While informative, they are obsessed & should seek medical attention, or the nearest possible Skarsgard for a cure. Many of the Skarstarved simply pursue such knowledge for the betterment and world-wide advancement of the Skarsgard carrier, with eternal hope that their beloved will come to shine throughout the world.

Currently Reading:

The Ties that Bind by Djehmli:  I’m really hooked on this story.  A completely AU story about if things had happened differently with Bill & Sookie.  If you are a Bill-hater, this is for you.  Very traumatic things happen to Sookie in this story, but it is a story of survival. It’s a dramatic and cathartic read. 

Getaway by My Secret O:  I’m so having fun reading this.  Eric & Sookie are really enjoying their vacation.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they single-handedly caused Global warming!!

Canvas by Smittenskitten: AH- Anyone that has known me for the last couple of years, knows that I have never really been a fan of AH.  Wait..Wait..Wait Hear me out.  HOWEVER, I have learned the error of my ways.  This story has Painter Eric who has a few social issues and Sookie who needs to dump that piece of shit Bill.  It’s a sexy and mysterious story that will have you glued to the pages.

This Started it All

Cliffhangers (1979)

Now, it has to be said that I’ve always loved vampires.  When I was 9 years old I watched a tv series called Cliffhangers which was a trilogy of stories.  One of the stories was about Dracula (played by Michael Nouri).  Major crush *sigh*.  In 1980, Frank Langella played Dracula in the movie Dracula.  OMG…That was it.  I read any and all vampire books and watched all vampire movies.  To me vampires are the ultimate bad boys…sexy, strong, mysterious…the Ultimate Lover. 

2009 was not the best of years for me for so many reasons, however I did discover the Sookie Stackhouse Series.  I tore through the first 8 books at record speed.  Then I read about a show in the U.S. called True Blood.  *heart flutter…thud*.  However, when I read Book 9, I wasn’t particularly happy with the ending.  Major blow.  While surfing one night…later to be called Skarsgarding,  I discovered (like so many of you) Let Love In by Terri Botta.  Holy Shit, Batman.  I recommended that to all my friends and got them hooked on it as well. 

I’m not trying to bore anyone here, but the point is that the Sookie Stackhouse series and later the SVM/TB Fanfics provided a well needed respite of reality and allowed me to regroup.  I will always be grateful to the authors that provided the laughs, drama, and sexy scenes that gave me strength to get through all my own dramas.

It wasn’t until FF.Net started booting off the stories I was reading that I started signing up to all these blogs to keep up with all the authors that I adored.  I started to use my blog to tell my friends what I was reading and hot photos of you know who.  And because some of my friends are still in the closet (or coffin if you will) about their lust for Eric Northman and a bit too lazy to search out good fanfics, I would post what I was reading. (Don’t even, you know who you are *points finger*)

Now, I hope that if some new Fanfic Fan or Newbie stumbles across my site, I can lead them to the right places to find what they’re looking for.  I will always be updating my site….so please come back now, ye hear!

Topic: Constructive Criticism for Fanfiction/ Review Etiquette

Constructive Criticism, does anyone know what this means? I sure hope so!

No doubt that there are a lot of talented writers out there. I have mentioned before, I feel so lucky that these people take time (out of their very busy lives) to share their stories with us. I am not a writer and I will not even pretend to have the talent they have. But I am an admirer and a reader, and I love being that.

With that said, I just wanted to share that it chaps my hide when I read that some people out there are so freaking immature and mean spirited. Why is that necessary? Sure if you have constructive criticism, please share. I believe most of the writers encourage that, they want to hear about constructive ways to grow in their work.

But why, why, why must some be so malicious!!! If you don’t like it, don’t read it and don’t comment. What is the benefit of sending the writer some nasty PM about their work. It’s their story; their work of art that they put time, love and energy into. It means something to them, and to the people that have marked it as a favorite and added it to their alerts.

My point is that the feedback should encourage, not discourage. I know that some of the writers have felt discouraged to continue writing because they are bombarded with negative comments instead of constructive criticism. Do we really want that? Do we really want the writers to stop sharing their stories with us?

Just as there are many stories that I love, there are some that I don’t. I comment on those that I love and don’t bother to read the ones that don’t hold my interest. I think that is o.k. because there are so many different tastes on this site. That is what makes it such a great site! Different stories will appeal to different audiences and that is great. There is no need to be rude about it.

I can’t believe how many times I have read an author’s note in which they are apologizing to us for taking a lot time to post or in which they have to address negative comments. I mean WTF! These writers are sharing their gift with us! Let’s not forget that. They shouldn’t have to justify anything. It is their story!

Sure, sure, freedom of speech and all that junk, but at least learn how to be respectful and write a somewhat intelligent constructive review people. And lay off on the quit your job, school and your family and write this story full time and update now comments! The writers write to escape, just like we read to escape, but they still have an outside life away from all this, and the readers should too.

That’s my rant. Maybe I am feeling brave posting this because I am not a writer and I don’t have to deal with the BS of negative, rude and outright malicious comments. But I respect the writers here and I felt like something had to be said. I want the writers to feel encouraged to continue writing and growing in their craft, not abandon us completely.

Throw down with me if you want, I’ll just stick my tongue out at you anyway!

Now, enough of my rambling.

  Start looking for a good fanfic

and lose yourself into the Sookieverse
