“The Tea Cup Human Issue”

As I’ve told you all before, I got started writing a blog to share my fanfic recommendations and True Blood comments with some of my close friends who enjoyed SVM fanfics but weren’t as obsessed …enthused to look for fanfics themselves.  Almost 2 years later with 3 blogs, co-moderating a 4th, a fanfic reading group, and about 450 fanfics under my belt; I have learned that the obsession …enthusiasm is world-wide.  No matter what your age, occupation or nationality; a SVM Addiction can hit anyone….and we don’t want to be cured. 
“Sookie and Eric: End Game” is a 3 part thesis style discourse on what will happen to Eric & Sookie at the end of CH SVM novels.  This morning was the 3rd posting of the series.  Of course, everybody might have different opinions on will happen to Eric & Sookie at the end of the SVM series, but tbrantsandraves supports her theories very well and has some wonderful insights.  The fact that she admits that she hates Bill only increases my respect for her.  One of the best aspects of her posts is that  tbrantsandraves really gets the discussion charged up.  Don’t be surprised, Fangreaders, if this blog gets mentioned in the Chat room today *wink*.

Fairy’s Recommendations

Since starting a reading group for other SVM Addicts, I have been reading fanfics that I may not have read.  As some of you know who have been reading my ramblings, I am very partial to Eric being a vampire.  However, my adamant refusal to read All Human Fanfics was reconsidered after reading Violetbat’s DREAM DOCTOR and House Of Flesh On Fire  by FarDareisMai2.   I found these fanfics very engaging and enjoyed them immensely. Since then I have read some incredible AH fanfic. Though, I don’t necessarily seek out All Human Fics, I have been seeking quality fics for the reading group and have had All Human fics recommended for our reading list.

Head Full of Doubt : Road Full of Promise by Scribeninja~ Now this fic tickles my vamp-lovin side.  For me it’s the best of the two worlds AU&AH.  Eric is the owner of Fangtasia who is famous for living the life of a vampire, and Sookie is a telepathic waitress at Merlottes that wants to become a successful journalist by interviewing the famous Eric Northman.  This fic is full of mystery, so put on your deerstalker hat and see if you can figure out the reasons behind Mr. Northman’s secret past.

*Scribeninja came into the Fangreaders Chat room to talk about this story.  She answered some of our questions and really teased us about what was coming up.  She’s a lovingly cruel author who has us really hooked on this story.  A tentative date has been set for the 10th of February for continuing our chat of this fic and hopefully Scribeninja will be joining us to answer more questions and to tease us unmercifully to what is coming up.

Unknown Protocol by Drumbjo~ This fic grabbed me immediately being an American expat living in England.  Sookie’s return to Bon Temps for Jason’s wedding with a secret she’s been hiding for 18 years.  Let me tell you as a wedding planner, I wouldn’t miss this wedding for anything.  Although there are some tough issues addressed in this fic, there are plenty of scenes that lighten the mood.  Look out for Amelia & Pam to be devilishly trouble-stirring.

*Drumbjo visited our Fangreaders group to talk about this engaging fic.  Our group will be continuing the chat of Unknown Protocol. It is tentatively booked on the 24th of February.  Trust me in my professional opinion, this is the wedding of the century, and you don’t want to miss it.

So now to the Vamp Lovers out there~

 Masters of the Scene by Djehmli:  For you True Blood lovers out there*waves hand in the air*, this fic is a what might happen in season 4.  It starts after Sookie returns a week later after leaving for the fae realm at the end of Season 3.  This is a mature Sookie whose eyes have opened to what is going on around her since she first entered the vampire world.  This is a well thought out plot that integrates what has happened in the show as well as some of the books.

*Djehmli has come into our Fangreaders chat room to chat about her story as well as popped in to bring her incredible insight to other fics.  We will be continuing our chat of Masters of the Scene on Sunday the 13th February.  It’s a chat not to miss. (Fairy will keep you posted)

Taken by XDarkDesiresX : Ok Lemon Lovers~ this fic has gone down very well in our chat room(no snickering out there).  This is an Eric who’s tired of waiting for Sookie to realise the feelings she’s always have had for him.  Eric is going to make Sookie confess her true desires.  Might want to keep something cool handy if you want to finish reading this fic.  This fic will definitely add to global warming.
Good Things Come to Those Who Wait! by Textcrazy:  This is an Epic of a fic.  Although, I admit that this story could have used a beta to help with minor mistakes, this is definitely a story to sink your fangs into.  This is definitely not for the Bill lovers out there.  However, if you’re open to multiple~partner lemons ( which are incredibly written) and a lot of AU; you will really like this fic where Sookie gets her cake and eats it too.  Or should I say Lemon Pie…

Eric and the Witches of Shreveport by Merick: This fic takes place about about a week after Eric regains his memory after the witches curse.  This is a True Blood fanfic that ties into the SVM books.  Sookie is found without her memories, and Eric still doesn’t know what happened while he had stayed with Sookie.  Eric feels compelled to help Sookie and tries to come to terms with his feelings for her.  Sookie doesn’t know who she is, but feels that Eric is the only one she can trust.  *sigh* Yes, this fic really tickles my romantic bone, but is not a fluffy story.  There’s a real mystery to who would have done this to Sookie and why.

*Merick has also visited our Fangreaders chat room to talk about her fic and has popped by to share in chats about other fics.  Merick will be back to talk about Eric and the Witches of Shreveport which is tentatively booked on the 6th of March.  So definitely get reading, and she’ll be able to answer your questions directly.

Bring Me to Life by My Universe:  The Fangreader Group chatted about this fic last night with the author, My Universe.  This well-written fic really touches on the flavour of CH in the SVM books.  It takes place during All Together Dead after the soda pop incident.  Sookie is going back to her room and Quinn wants to join her to sleep.  It’s here that My Universe lovingly shakes thing up a bit.  I think the consensus from the Fangreaders was that we wished this was the way the book played out.  No offence Mrs Harris (you helped create us Eric lovers). 

*My Universe came in to the chat room last night to talk about Bring Me to Life which was an entry to the I Write the Song Contest.  She is planning to carry on the story, so story alert it now on ff.net.   

~*~Currently Reading~*~

Today while still in my jammies, I plan on finishing my reading on this fic, Immortal Beloved by All About Eric.  I’m almost all caught up with story that is an AU that takes place well after the Great Reveal and the Vampires have taken over America.  All About Eric has created a well thought out world where the Vampires are the ruling governing body.  I’m so impressed with the socio-economic details of what the world would be like if Vampires actually ran the government.  Eric Northman is a king who lives in his palace in New Orleans.  Sookie is a child of 7 who goes to live with her Gran who is a part of the Domestic Staff in the palace. It’s the story of Sookie growing up living in the palace.   Eric Northman notices something different about Sookie even at their first meeting.   Eric is there sporadically as Sookie grows up in some classic scenes.  What will happen when she turns 21?  Now this lil’ Fairy deserves a big spanking, because I probably would have passed this fic up due to the T- rating.  I would have completely regretted missing out on this fic.  I’m hooked.  It’s witty, intelligent, and endearing. 

* Since telling All About Eric how her fic was recommended by our Fangreaders group to read, she has been an absolutely delightful addition to our fellow addicts.  Tomorrow 31st of January will be our chat on Immortal Beloved, and of course All About Eric will be there with bells on.   (well, she could be naked for all we know~ it’s a chat room people!!!)  The chat starts at 9pm GMT (4 EST).  If you are a fan, click here to join the Fangreaders Group.

Sorry for such a long list of recommendations.  Getting the Fangreaders Chat room organised and helping with the Fang_readers Community on Livejournal has taken a bit of this Fairy’s time.  However now that things are moving tickety boo, I can get back to giving my fellow fanfic readers heads up on fanfics, Askars worshipping, and anything else that tickles my fanfic fairy bone.

Two weeks ago, a little idea blossomed from my fragile little mind… Get some SVM/TB Fanfic addicts together in one chat room and talk Sookieverse & fanfics.  Fanfic Readers & Authors from around the world have come together in one place and have had one helluva time.  This is a place of fangreaders for fangreaders!!!!

We’ve been lucky to have over half our members being Fanfic Authors now ~ and have had them in to talk about their fanfics.  Since they’ve had so much fun, they’ve come back just to keep chatting.  We’ve even sweet- talked them into giving us some hints on what’s coming up in their stories.  Fangreaders are not above bribery.

Since there have been a devoted group of Fangreaders who have been showing up every night, I’ve changed the Fangreaders Calendar so no one has to miss a good fanfic.   It’s been so much fun chatting away with everyone, we sometimes get off topic…. I know hard to believe, huh?  So now I have added Fangreaders Choice to the days in between fanfics just so we can get together and talk about what the hell is going on in the Sookieverse…or the Vikingverse as we do talk about Eric …a bit.

A Very Happy Lil’ Fairy

This little Fairy has been pretty busy in her Happy Place…and no I’m not just talking about my Skarsporning either.  Lately, this little Fairy has been busy in the TRUE~blood~LUST chat room talking to fellow SVM addicts.  What a great bunch of Fangreaders.  So far we have a group chat every night talking about the fics that are on our reading list.  We’ve come across some great fanfics, too.  I’m hoping there will be more group chats available since the chat room is open 24/7 for it’s members.  Anyone interested in leading a chat on anything in the Sookieverse, just contact me. I’ll be happy to put it on our calendar and advertise it.

So there I was reading on my Google Reader and came across this great idea from Andi at Dr Cullen’s Love Shack.  It’s a Fanfic Challenge across all the fandoms.  So all you Fanfic Authors out there~ get ready to read some reviews.  This is also a great way to remind us readers to review the fanfics that we are reading.  Andi is looking to start this 30th January 2011 and is currently tweaking the challenge so the final rules should be up soon.  These are the rules so far: 

Introducing the 2011
"Million Word Read & Review Fan Fiction Challenge"
Rules:
1. You have until December 31, 2011 to read one million words of any fan fiction you choose.
2. To get credit for the words you've read from a story you must submit a review to the author for each chapter of the fic that you’re claiming.
3. And since I’m neither a mind reader nor psychic, I will create a story post on ff.net where I will re-post the rules for this challenge. Each participate will submit a review to that story post, simply stating the story title, author, and chapter(s) they reviewed so that I can find out the number of words to add to your total. If you reviewed chapters 11-15 of a story then all of that info can all be submitted to the challenge in one post. All story reviews must be from the current year to qualify.
4. I thought I would post the word count totals for those participating each Sunday. It would simply be listed as a story update on ff.net that way people can see where they are.
5. Since this is not a contest, I’d love to be able to offer an incentive for all of those who actually complete the challenge; however I’m not sure what that incentive will be yet. Sorry, ideas?

Calling all Fandoms

Sometimes I watch the telly and can not believe the tragedies that go on around us in the world.  It is very easy to think that one person can not help when the troubles seem so big.  After living in places like Kansas City with the tornadoes and Virginia Beach with the hurricanes, I’ve seen first hand how a person can make all the difference.  Whether it is helping physically, or with donations, or by spreading the word about ways to help; everyone can do their bit.  After watching the devastation in Queensland, my heart broke.  Then a little while later to witness the floods and mudslides in Brazil, I just felt that there has to be something to do.  Then I saw a Tweet pass by that uplifted my spirits.  The Fandom community is banding together to raise money for the the victims of the floods in Queensland.  I’ve copied a bit from their blog here.  Fanfic Authors are asked to donate a story that will be compiled with other stories from all fandoms.  This compilation will be given to all those that donate at least $5.  Please find it in your heart to help~ either by monetary donation, a fanfic or by spreading the word about this great cause.

A group of caring and determined Aussie's are working hard to raise funds for the victims of the devastating floods that have ravaged Queensland in recent weeks. TRUE~blood~LUST  Readers Group
2011 has started off with a bang for this little fairy.  With January and February being the quiet time as a wedding planner, I would normally be a bit bored.  With business being very slow this year and with businesses cutting back on the Christmas parties of last year, my slow season started early.    I have also had my hubby home for over 6 weeks~ Arghhhh!!! …a..a.a…I mean GREAT!*said through clenched teeth*.  For 3 of those weeks he’s been down with the flu.  Oh joy *heavy on the sarcasm*.  Luckily he is now feeling better and will be returning to work on Monday.
So needing to delve into My Happy Place, I wanted to find a project to help me escape my personal insane asylum.  The TRUE~blood~LUST Readers Group is born.  Many ideas came to my head on how I could get a bunch of SVM Fanfic addicts together.  After trying out about a dozen different chat rooms, I settled on Chatzy.com.  It’s private, no registration for the members, can keep out spammers, and it’s available 24/7.  Now what?….what the hell are we going to read?  You’ve heard the phrase, “can’t make everybody happy”.  Well, no shit.  So let’s get the group together and ask what they’ll like to do with this group.  Everyone gave great ideas.  So now there’s a particular topic for each day of the week and a story to go along with it.
***New Fic Mondays, Spotlight Tuesdays, Humpday Fics(Lemony fics), All Human Thursdays, Epic Fridays, Short Story Saturdays, and True Blood Sundays. ***
Everyone can pick and chose what they want to read from the Reading list.  There’s a poll now on my site where the members can tick off what they are reading so I can see how many are going to be in the group for each story.  With the help of the brilliant ladies, Sapfirerose and Southernlady23, the ideas and creation of story request forms, calendar and reading lists were born. 
In choosing stories for the group has been a bit tricky with all the fanfic addicts out there, however I hope there is something for everybody.  With a chat room that’s open 24/7 there is still plenty of room for more.  ( I still have 3 more chat rooms on the side, but one is plenty at the moment.) So all of you that feel there’s no room~ get in touch!! No, I mean now.  I still have several people who received invites to our chat room at Chatzy.com that have not checked in.  This week is a Meet & Greet & has given everybody a chance to get to know one another, chat about what they’re reading, and have a giggle.  Although it does get lonely in there if people don’t stop by. Our first story~chat will be tomorrow with the Short Story Beltaine by Erullisse.

The Little Wolf Series by Vic_vega66~ I’m currently finishing the third story.  It is a AU story that has Eric with her OC, Lysene, who is an absolutely amazing character that is both strong and vulnerable.  You just can’t help falling in love with her and her ways.  Vic Vega66 adds so much depth also with Eric who is not always perfect (hello, he’s still a man).  However, their relationship is utterly charming and sexy.

I just have to say~ I Love The SVM/TB Fandom!!!  There are soooo many great stories out there, I’m having trouble narrowing down what to read first.

Naked Viking Vamps to you All!!

The response to the TRUE~blood~Lust Readers Group has been incredible *Doin the Happy Naked Viking Dance*.  One of the reasons to start announcing early was so I could see what kind of response there would be for a bunch of SVM Addicts to get together and talk about Fanfics.  And guess what?  You guys are ready to talk. 

There are loads of questions out there, so I’m gonna try to give you the skinny of the Readers Group.  If there are any more questions don’t hesitate to ask. 

What the Hell is a Readers Group?

• Since Fanfics aren’t published books I thought “Book Club” would be a misnomer.  Basically, a group reads a fanfic story during the same time period and get together and talk about it.  This idea has been floating threw my head for the better part of a year.  I’ve been a part of Book Clubs before and it’s quite fun to all chat about our perceptions about a book.  Everyone seems to get something different from the same story.  Sharing insights can be a laugh and helps to get the most from a story.
• Also, since I’ve been reading fanfics for close to 2 years, I wanted to be able to do more than leaving a review for an author or leaving a comment in a forum.  All those are great, but I also want to find out more from other readers.  What can I say, I’m a talker.  May live in the UK, but I’m still from the South.

What’s with the Chatroom?

• Depending on how everyone feels, I wanted a place where we can talk freely.  I fucking don’t mind a bit of cursing or talking about smut( I know~hard to believe). 
• Like my blog says…There are No Rules in My Happy Place~ I hate rules when I’m having fun.  However, The ONLY thing I ask is for everyone to be considerate to each other, to the story, and the author. I don’t want any bashing.  If you didn’t like a story, there are ways to express it without being hateful.  Other than that~ grab a drink, have a seat, light a smoke and let’s talk.

What’s the deal with a password?

• OK, this is simple~ Spammers!!  This chatroom is for SVM/ TB Fanfics Only or chatting about the cast and characters in them.

• This has been the toughest issue.  Obviously, I love Fanfics, duh.  However, a few years ago, I never knew they existed.  I stumbled upon it, read, fell in love, got addicted and wanted more.  I surfed across the internet to find out everything about SVM Fanfics and I’m still learning.  I want those that have never read a fanfic to join in and have fun, ask questions and read some more. 
• So you’ve read EVERYTHING~ great! Bet you have alot of input in a discussion.  As new stories are written, you’ll have others there to read them with you and chat as the story progresses.
• So Fairy, how are going to have something for everyone, you ask?  I’m going to post a list of Fanfics.  Some oldies~but~goodies, a range of short~stories/one shots, some epic stories, and some recent stories.  Every Fortnight (That’s every 2 weeks), I’m going to post a poll of what you’re reading from the list.  This will help me to pick future stories as well as how many are going to participate in the discussions.

What time are these discussions, because I live on the other side of the world?

• This is why I got the chatroom at Chatzy.com.  It is solely for the Readers Group 24/7.  Once you have your link and password you can go in anytime.  As a few of those that I went ahead and gave the link & password to realised.  It can be lonely in there with no one else.  Hence why I’m holding back on sending out the links& passwords until everything is set.
• I will post times of discussions that will suit most time zones.  If this becomes a problem for some, I will happily arrange other times for those groups.  Also, as long as the chatroom is being used for the Readers Group, members may arrange with other members to meet at anytime that it isn’t being used for main discussions.  Please, I’m asking everyone not to abuse this.  Think of it as Cheers, where everybody knows your name.  Have a seat and chat a bit.  I want everyone to feel welcomed here.

Are Fanfic Authors invited?

• Hell yeah…wouldn’t have a party without you lovelies.  ALL FANFIC AUTHORS ARE INVITED!!!  I know that you all have projects, work and writing to do and feel that you may not be able to commit.  That’s all right.  Drop by when ever you like.  I was also planning on having Fanfic Author Nites.  You can plug your stories, chat with some of your readers and answer some questions. I’ll buy you a virtual drink *cheers* 
• Also, feel free to pass on info about the Readers Group to your fans *bats eyelashes sweetly*

Now as some of you know, I’m a wedding/ event planner by trade.  The number one rule of a great party is never to make a rigid itinerary for a gathering.  I’ve got loads of ideas for making this fun, but I also want some input.  This is something a bit different and has the potential for being fun for everyone.  So feel free to suggest ideas.   I would also like to point out that if there are any concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know.  I love to party hard, but I don’t want the venue trashed, K?!
Think I’ve prattled on long enough.  I hope this answers most of your questions.  You’ll be hearing more from me soon. *wink*  Now I’m gonna enjoy a the fact that my daughter is back at school and hubby is out~ after 3 fucking weeks of everybody at home~ I may be hitting the rum *cheers*
