An Exciting Day All Around

My little presentation of the Fangie which was unveiled yesterday, and it’s made me even more excited about the Fangreaders Awards coming up.

Here he is…

Kittrose did such a marvellous job making an award to everyone’s specifications.  She is so talented and she was very patient. I so adore her work.

The story that AlphaEN submitted for the post was absolutely brilliant and really added to the fun that the awards are supposed to stand for.  I hope everyone else is getting as excited. 

So far there have been over a dozen nomination ballots completed and it’s only been the first week..ooo let it keep up this pace, because I’d love to see several fics nominated for each category.  I don’t know about everyone else, but choosing just one for each category has been extremely difficult.  As I look at my list of fics for each category, I’m not sure how I am going to decide.

It’s been a very exciting day with the news that Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic by vic_vegas66 was posted to The Tears of Crimson website.  I’m so happy for vic, and I’m so tickled that my birthday pressie fic is getting some more recognition. 

Then last night I found out that my fellow blog addict Southernlady23 has started a new blog !!  Really, we should get some professional help, but when it feels this good to create a blog why stop?  Trust me ladies, you really want to check this site out if you love steamy paranormal romances  NSFW ~  “Read Our Lips” .  Good luck, Julie on your new venture.  The site looks awesome and *fans myself* hot!!!!

Those of you that are fans of my steamy blog Fairyblood’s Pleasure Chamber  will be happy to know that I’m about to post the newest addition to steamy excerpts of SVM/TB Fanfics.  “The Corridor”an Outtake from the “Viking’s Pet” by FanOtheFang will be posted in the next day or so. I was hoping to post this sooner , but it’s not all that easy finding just the right …erm…visuals to go with a story.  I’d like to say congratulations to Fangy for completing the “Viking’s Pet” ~ I have a bit to catch up with the story, and I know I’m going to cry when I reach the end.  If you haven’t read it, please do so.

True Blood on Twitter Holiday Writing Contest

The True Blood on Twitter is holding their second writing contest.  See your entry acted out live on Twitter! Set the scene…

The holidays are approaching and provide the perfect setting for your story to take place.  Here is some background to help get you started:

King Bill has decided to hold a charity holiday party to foster goodwill between Humans and Vampires.  In keeping with Bill and Eric working as a team, the King has asked Eric to co-host the party with him and  has also pulled Sookie in to be the hostess to provide the Human touch, thereby continuing the “triangle” that was present all through Season 4

Our premise will be Eric’s recent memory loss has stirred up his real life memories coupled with Sookie’s rejection causing him to want to go “home” in solitude for the holidays.  Sookie is going to come up with incorporating the Norse theme of Jul (Yule) into the party in order to keep Eric there to help them.

Create your True Blood holiday story using the background setup we have provided and the theme of Jul. It can take place just before the party starts, during the event or immediately after. This is a celebration of new beginnings and endings, what might that mean in the world of True Blood? Could something happen that increases tension between Sookie, Bill and Eric? Does something or someone go wrong at the party? Is our Vampire/Faerie triangle mysteriously transported to days of old and a real Viking Jul celebration? Does everyone live happily ever after? Wait, this is Bon Temps we are talking about, that would never happen. Only you know what you want to unfold and this is your chance to tell us all.

(Performance disclaimer: Characters other than the three mentioned in our setup can be used but are subject to availability for actual Twitter performance).

Our panel of judges will choose first, second and third place winners from the submissions and True Blood on Twitter group members will act out the winning story, live on Twitter, as a special holiday event.

First place prize is a signed Alexander Skarsgard print by Kristin Bauer van Straten.  Runner up prizes will also be awarded for second and third place winners.

Contest Rules

• The contest will open on Oct 23, 2011 and runs through Dec 1, 2011
• All entries must be received by December 1, 2011  11:59 pm CST
• All entries must be a minimum of 2500 words a maximum of 8,000
• All entries must be in a Microsoft Word compatible document (Gdocs would be preferable)
• No more than 2 entries per writer EXCLUDING collaborations.
• Collaborations are allowed and encouraged, no more than 2 per author
• All entries must be NEW stories
• All entries must include a disclaimer for True Blood and HBO
• Members of the True Blood on Twitter Group are excluded from participation
• All entrants must be at least 18 years of age
• All entries must be beta’d.*  For those of you who need a beta see the info below.
• Submitted stories must incorporate the holiday party theme and can take place immediately before, during or after the party.

As some of you might have seen, I’m in the process of updating my blogs and adding new ones.

Of course Fairyblood’s Fantasies will always be THE most special to me since it was my very first blog.  It will always be the place to go to get the skinny on SVM/TB fanfic that I feel deserves some attention.  However, as a lover of paranormal romance~ I am going to be adding my favourite paranormal romance reads as well.  Eric Northman will continue to be my favourite character, but I do have to give the poor vampire a break sometimes.  He may be immortal, but my Fantasies are voracious.

April’s Imagination ~  An personal blog that is still in development.  Look out for promotions of indie authors (especially our fanfic authors that are publishing their own works) and artists that I feel need recognition.  Currently working with local artists to get their work online.

The Fairy's Blood ~ One of my newest hobbies has been RPing on Twitter.  Aev is my character.  She is a full blooded Fae descended from royalty but ran away from her family’s kingdom a couple of centuries ago. Making the most of her freedom away from the Fae Courts, she has met the most amazing people and has incredible adventures. Aev has worked for and later became close friends with @SheriffArea_9.  My dearest friend and halfling @Ari_RP has become his bonded. They are a remarkable and passionate couple. Unfortunate circumstances led @Kitten_lvs_Kink away from her home, but I am very glad that it led her to live with me as my dear friend.  She has become mated to @Deathomen who is a cursed guard from my past and still sees fit to try and still protect me.  Unfortunately we are trapped in a dimension of goblins and a very large spider.  Watch as our Story Line will resume soon.

Laughs as I look at the above list~ Julie, I think I really need to go to Blogger’s Anonymous!!

The 9 Day Stretch~ Must Hang On

Oh Hell Yeah!!!

First let me say, I have NOT abandoned this blog ~ my first baby~ Fairyblood’s Fantasies.  Since January of this year, my second baby~ The Fangreaders Group ~has taken quite a bit of my time and energy.  Now I look at the Fangreaders with a massive amount of pride.  A group of Fanfic authors & readers meeting and chatting~ daily.  A fandom community that is still growing.  All members have a say and are encouraged to come up with new ideas for authors & readers alike.  This week saw the opening of the Caffe Trieste forum for authors to go & get help in their writing.  I just love all the Fangreaders so much and encourage all you readers & authors to join in.

The last couple of weeks have been very hectic and the energy that I had at the beginning has waned a bit.  Not to worry, you can’t get rid of this fairy.  I just needed a little bit of time to recharge. 

Plus~ I NEED SOME TRUE BLOOD NOW!!!!

I have many ideas for this blog and you will see some new features soon~ plus loads of SVM/TB Fanfic!!!  I am looking for some of you beautiful readers out there to do some reviews for this blog as well.  So please contact Fairy if you are interested.

Forgive your naughty Fairy for not posting in awhile.  My wonderful Fangreaders have been keeping me busy.  I have created many blogs now for the Fangreaders, and I’m most proud of the latest, The Fangreaders Hall of Fame where we get to celebrate fanfic authors & their stories.  The Grand Opening was with our Lemon Tart Awards.  Yes a subject very close to my …heart.  I was really overwhelmed by the response in our fandom.  239 people voted!!!  All the nominees came from the fandom & from the Fangreaders themselves.  I also created each and every one of the awards and was very happy with the results.  Seeing some of the awards posted on the authors’ blogs have made me the happiest.

The Wait is Almost Over!!!!!

It’s a double birthday celebration here at Fairyblood’s Fantasies.  A little over a year ago, Fairyblood’s Fantasy was created in it’s first home at LiveJournal.  Now it can be viewed on Wordpress as well as it’s main home on Blogger.  I have to say that it has been a very Happy Place.

Many thanks to all my followers.  I love your emails of recommendations and comments. You have made my first year of blogging so enjoyable.  

 

Also this little Fairy has added an extra candle to the cake.  Won’t tell you how many candles are on it, but let’s just say that the Fire Brigade is on call.

Pretty Kitty by ficlit78 A lemony fic that takes place after Sookie comes back from the fae realm.  Trying to stay away from Eric is futile as he uses Sookie’s new cat against her. 

Fairytale  By SharaMoon ~ Now those of you that have been reading True Desires know Sharamoon.  She has created an OC, a fairy assassin named Sofia, who is to guard Sookie.  Little does she know that the person who saved her life as a child knows Sookie very well.  Let’s just say that he leaves a lasting impression. 

End This Darkness by Eric4Me ~ Now this fic I is on the Fangreaders Reading list, but I would’ve overlooked it otherwise.  It’s a period fic where Sookie is married off to Eric Northman, wealthy businessman.  I found this fic very surprising with quite a journey for both Eric & Sookie.

Also Check out Janofarc ‘s new Fic Idea Georgie Prentice & the Bank Heist Conundrum .  It’s an interactive story where the readers are able to chose the path that the characters take. It will be up soon, so keep a look out for it.

The issue? The people on these sites don’t like the FICTIONAL character of Bill Compton and would DARE to discuss their dislike of this character and make fun of him in a public forum. Reviews!!!

There are more blog postings on this subject than I care to really think about.  I’ve only touched on this subject once on my blog, because of the fear of adding more to this mess.  However since it is my birthday, screw it, here it is! 

I’ll try to paint the picture of how I see it.  You have authors who receive very hateful reviews. Some authors are very hurt by this and some just ignore them.  There is NO excuse to be rude to any author or any story.  If you don’t like it move on.  Freedom of Speech is a wonderful concept that I believe in very much, however hate should never be set free.  On that note there are authors that have really disappointed me in their distaste for reviewers.  There seems to be mixed messages of what an author expects from their reviewers.  Some want constructive criticism or want to know if you like it. Some even ask how you would like the story to progress.  If a reviewer gets it wrong, some authors feel they can be bitch about them and call them stupid.  Also please don’t beg for reviews if you don’t plan to say thank you to the reviewer. My recommendation would be for authors to state what they would like from their reviewers and remember that everyone is different.  Don’t be insulted by innocuous remarks.  For reviewers, be considerate that that some authors are just starting out or may not have English as a first language.  This is a fandom, and this is suppose to be a place to let out your imagination.

The Sookieverse » Constructive Feedback for Fanfiction/ Review Etiquette Have a read and see the different opinions on reviews.  ( There are blogs that are very hateful & I will not list those here)

Since reading fanfic for 2 years, my philosophy on reviews is this. 

Stay positive~ find the positive points in the story to encourage the author.  Let them know that you enjoyed the story and why.

I’m not a writer, so I don’t feel right dishing out my critiques on writing unless the author specifically asks.  Sometimes I may suggest they find a beta to so that a beta can help them express themselves the best way possible.

When I find a story that I really don’t like, I try to find positive aspects.  If I can’t then I just move on.

Now one of the reasons I wanted to start the Fangreaders Group was to get authors and readers together.  I think this has helped bridge the gap in a lot of ways. We are all crazy about our Fandom and feel very passionately about it. Some people don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.  Good for you ~ whatever you’re doing keep it up.  For the rest of you that only know one side of this problem or are aware of the bigger picture, help keep the peace and discourage those from ruining our fandom.  We all need each other ~ so PLAY NICE!! (said in my best scolding mother voice).

I swear this is the last time I’ll ever mention anything about this subject.  I’d rather just promote Peace, Love, and Naked Eric!!!

New Look~

If you are a follower of my Blogger site then you will notice a little of a new look.  I am also expanding the site to include Fairy’s Library, Fairy’s Favourite Fanfics and Fairy’s Pleasure Chamber.  They are currently under construction, but they will be up soon.  My Library will have all about my fave paranormal romances.  For my really naughty side, the Pleasure Chamber will be filled with all naughty gifs, vids and pics to go with some steamy excerpts from my fave lemony scenes.
